What are Riiiver Powered by Citizen watch faces?
Riiiver Powered by Citizen watch faces combine Facer's customizable watch face platform with Citizen's Riiiver technology to bring live information directly to your smartwatch.
Unlike traditional watch faces, Riiiver-powered faces can display dynamic content such as sports schedules, live scores, standings, rankings, headlines, and other real-time information that updates throughout the day.
How do I set up a Riiiver Powered by Citizen watch face?
- Make sure both the Facer phone app and Facer watch app are installed and updated to version 7.0.71_11170323 or later.
- It’s recommended that you try sending another free face to your watch to start to make sure everything works smoothly with that first.
- Open the Google Play Store on both your phone and watch and check for available Facer updates.
- In the Facer app, navigate to a Riiiver Powered by Citizen face and tap Configure Riiiver to Send to Watch.
- Follow the setup process to:
- Select your country
- Accept the Citizen Riiiver terms
- Choose your favorite team (if applicable)
- After setup is complete, tap Send to Watch.
- Make sure:
- Your watch is connected
- The Facer watch app is installed
- A Facer watch face is currently active
Having trouble? Check the following items:
Watch Settings → Apps → Permission Manager → Additional Permissions → Change Active Watch Face:
and make sure this permission is enabled for Facer.
If you are still having trouble on the Facer phone app side where you see a message at the bottom of the screen about installing the Facer app, try clearing the data/cache on your phone app (Phone - Settings - Apps - Facer - Storage - Clear Data), then relaunch Facer and try to load a NON-Riiiver Powered by Citizen face to your watch first and make sure that works properly and the Facer watch app is properly installed and working. Then, with that success in place, go back and try the steps for installing the Riiiver Powered by Citizen face!
How do I change my favorite team?
You can change your team at any time.
- Open the Facer phone app.
- Navigate to the Riiiver Powered by Citizen face.
- Tap the Customize icon to the right of the face preview.
- Select a new team.
Once selected, you do not need to resend the watch face.
Your watch should automatically refresh within approximately 5 minutes. If you'd like to refresh immediately, switch to another watch face on your watch and then back again.
How often does the data update?
Data refresh timing is controlled by Wear OS.
Most Wear OS watches refresh complication data approximately every 5 minutes.
During live matches, the sports data itself is typically less than one minute old when delivered to your watch.
If your watch loses internet connectivity, data may appear older until the connection is restored.
Which teams can I follow?
For sports-enabled faces such as 🏆 Kick It, you can select from any supported team available within the experience. So, all teams that qualified for the World Cup are included in the 🏆 Kick It face and typically all teams within any league for a face can be selected.
Simply choose your favorite team during setup or change it later using the Customize option in the Facer app.
What information does 🏆 Kick It display?
Depending on the current state of the tournament, the face may display:
- Your team's next match
- Live scores and match status
- Group standings
- Team rankings
- Team record
- Opponent information
- Relevant match headlines
- Team colors and national flag
Do I need to keep my phone nearby?
In order to get live match data, your watch must have access to current data, either through your phone connection or its own network connection (if supported by your watch model).
Without connectivity, previously downloaded information may remain visible until the next successful refresh. Of course, the time, step count and other non-sports data will continue to refresh properly without any connection.
Can I use multiple Riiiver Powered by Citizen faces?
Yes.
You can install and use multiple Riiiver Powered by Citizen faces and switch between them just like any other Facer watch face. Although only 1 Riiiver Powered by Citizen face is available at launch.
Why doesn't my watch show the latest score immediately?
Wear OS controls how frequently complication data is refreshed in order to preserve battery life.
As a result, scores may not update the instant a goal is scored, but they should typically refresh within a few minutes.
What makes Riiiver Powered by Citizen faces different from traditional watch faces?
Traditional watch faces primarily display information from the watch itself such as time, date, or health metrics. Weather is one common non-watch-based data type that watch faces including those from Facer have added but beyond that, faces have not before displayed other data types.
Riiiver Powered by Citizen faces can deliver dynamic, real-world information from a variety of sources like sports data that changes throughout the day, creating experiences that stay relevant to your interests and passions.
What is the hourly stadium chime?
Some Riiiver Powered by Citizen faces include the optional Face ChimeTM audio experiences.
For example, 🏆 Kick It features an hourly stadium-inspired audio chime that recreates the energy of match day with the familiar "Ole, Ole Ole Ole" crowd chant.
Are more sports and experiences coming?
Yes.
🏆 Kick It is the first in a growing collection of Riiiver Powered by Citizen experiences. Additional sports, teams, and real-time experiences are planned for future releases.
